Summer '15

I am beyond excited that the school year is about to end. What always comes after a school year? Yup, summer! As much as college is fun and all, summer is the best. Who doesn't love summer? You have no worries about schoolwork, deadlines, nothing.
I have so many plans over break. The last day of school my family and I are traveling back to Europe and we're going to visit other countries we have never visited. I can't wait for that. We'll be there for about a month and a half. Then right after that I'm going to Hawaii for a week! I can't imagine how my sleeping schedule will be like. Then when I get back I have a lot to do for my sorority.
I can't wait for the school year to end and then start my sophomore year of college.

Response to Muller

In Richard Muller's argument, he clearly states we all should take into consideration on how us humans are storing nuclear waste. He is mainly stating that there should be no worries towards the subject of nuclear waste. It is not harmful as of right now and there should be no problems period. If anything, we are causing it to be more of a problem than we should make it. Even the government is making some big moves towards what we should do. Overall, Muller had good and effective points for his stance. He reasoning was good. However Muller didn't give his full opinion and what he himself would do to help. He used effective language. Overall, he stated his reasoning pretty good.

Response to Turkle

Technology is advancing everyday in the blink of an eye.  It is truly amazing at what we can come up with and invent nowadays.  It is so hard to avoid it and honestly I think we can say it has taken over our lives and how we do most things today.  For example, how many of us can say we can't live without our phones or we constantly got to have it by our sides 24/7?  Majority of us I'm quite sure.  We live everyday with our handheld devices, tablets, and laptops.
In my opinion, I think we all should take a break from it once in a while and try to relive the moments where we didn't need technology in the palm of our hands.  It's good to get some fresh air, hang out with friends, and things like that.  We don't need technology to take over our lives.

Free Write- Social Media Taking Over?

Are our digital lives taking over our real ones? There is no question about it. Our generation is hooked on social media and it doesn't look like it's changing anytime soon. Social media can be very beneficial in many ways. It can allow you to connect and associate with friends and family, share ideas with people, discover new information you didn't know, and much much more. However, there are some negative affects it can have on us. We can abuse it in many ways. It can cause narcassistic tendencies in teens and young adults. Studies have shown that the more people use social media, the bigger chance of them recieving depression and anxiety. Also, social medias like Facebook and Twitter can have a huge impact on learning.
There surely are several positive and negative sides to social media. It's a great influence on society, yet can break it in a way. The golden way to get through social media I feel is moderation. There is nothing wrong with social media, as long as you don't intake too much. Research on the psychological effects of social media will of course become an area of study that will inform future arenas, and social media will evolve in many ways.

Free Write- 50 Shades of Grey

The movie 50 Shades of Grey is the first installment in the 50 Shades trilogy that follows the deepening relationship between entrepreneur Christian Grey and college student Anastasia Steele.  It is highly notable for its highly explicit, erotic, and sexual practices between them.  It features their sexual relationship that includes bondage/discipline and dominance/submission.  The desire for Christian dominates Anastasia every waking thought.  When he proposes a new arrangement, she can't do anything but resist.  They rekindle their sexual affair and Anastasia learns more about the past of her damaged Fifty Shades.
The book/movie continues with two other stories, Fifty Shades of Darker and Fifty Shades of Freed.  Fifty Shades of Grey has topped best-seller lists around the world, including the United Kingdom and the United States.
I personally had mixed feelings towards the movie.  The storyline I felt was very different and I feel people would have a love/hate relationship with it.  I liked it however the book was a little better to me.  Hopefully the next 2 movies will be good as well.

Snuggie Advertisement

For my advertisement, I chose the Snuggie blanket to review.  If you don't know what this is, it basically is a unisex body-length blanket with built in sleeves.  It is made out of fleece material.  It almost looks like an oversized bathrobe that you wear backwards.  Their pitch is, "The blanket with sleeves!"
For their ad, or commercial, they start off by showing that regular blankets don't do their jobs.  They also put down regular blankets and say they don't do their job.  Then they finally introduce their product, the Snuggie, which gives people the power to do whatever they need to do, while still having the blanket on them.  They even show examples of people wearing it and doing everyday things and not having any problems with it on.
Overall, I feel the commercial itself is very deceiving.  It praises it so much and says nothing but great things.  They say it's a great product that everyone will love.  However, I feel they overexaggerate.  I read some reviews online and many people say it is not all that.  They praise the product a little more than they should.  The ad is effective at first, but eventually people will begin to notice it's not.  It is not an effective ad and will eventually get bad criticism in the end.

Free Write- My Decision towards College

Ever since elementary school, I always knew and dreamed of going off to college.  I didn't know exactly where, but I knew that's where I was going to go.  It was also not an option with my parents.  I HAD to go to college.  I had that push that not many kids got from their parents, and I'm happy I got that.  When it came to going into high school, that is where I had to really buckle down and get my stuff together.  High school is the place where colleges will determine whether or not you're eligible to go there.  I still had no idea where I wanted to go.  All I knew in my head was that I had to go to either a CSU or a UC.  When it came to senior year, It was finally time to start applying.  I applied to many CSUs and UCs.  Thankfully I got accepted to the majority of them.  It was super exciting to be getting college acceptance letters in the mail.  It truly is a good feeling to know that a school you applied for actually wants you.  At least that is what I thought.  I honestly did not have that much confidence in myself.  I was preparing for the worst.  Thank goodness everything pulled through and I had a good amount of choices.  Today, I attend Sac State and I am very happy with my choice!
